The chart covers the four methods. Standard (Mispar Hechrachi) is the absolute value, aleph 1 to tav 400. Large (Mispar Gadol) matches it, except the five final forms (ך ם ן ף ץ) rise to 500 through 900. Ordinal (Mispar Siduri) counts by position, 1 to 22. Reduced (Mispar Katan) folds each value to a single digit.
To find a word's value, read each letter and add the numbers, or use the Hebrew gematria calculator to do it instantly.
Frequently asked questions
What is the value of each Hebrew letter?
In the Standard method (Mispar Hechrachi), aleph is 1 up to tav at 400. The chart above lists every letter with its value in the Large, Ordinal and Reduced methods too.
What are the final Hebrew letters worth?
In the Standard method the five final forms keep their base value (final kaf is 20, the same as regular kaf). In the Large method, Mispar Gadol, they rise: final kaf 500, mem 600, nun 700, pe 800, tsadi 900.
How do I work out a Hebrew word from the chart?
Read each letter from the chart and add the numbers. For shalom: shin 300 + lamed 30 + vav 6 + final mem 40 = 376. Or type the word into the calculator and it does every method at once.
